Connecting business- and academic world at the Technology Centre Hradec Králové
The Technology Centre Hradec Králové was initaited by the City of Hradec Králové, in cooperation with the University of Hradec Králové and the company EPIS. These three parties wanted to actively develop the innovative environment in the region. A modern science and technology park has arisen through the reconstruction of the former military canteen in the Hradec Králové airport. Flexible rooms are offered to potential clients for their innovative activities. By means of provided services the centre supports technological transfer and innovative processes both in companies and universities. It tries to interconnect the business- and the academic sphere in a spontaneous way and thus remove barriers between those two worlds.
Summary
The Technology Centre pays considerable attention to its
business incubator, through which it supports the establishment and
development of small and medium-sized high-tech companies. If
necessary, the centre can assist in preparing a business plan, as
well as offer companies a clear innovative strategy in the form of
specialized consulting and advise, particularly in the area of
intellectual property protection. Help with preparation of grant
projects and finding a suitable partner for cooperation, are also
available. The Science and Technology Park disposes of flexible
rooms for offices, laboratories and light production prototype
workshops. The total area is 2.817 m2 big of which 1.594 m2 can be
hired. Parking for visitors is free of charge.

Interview with the Director of the Technology Centre Hradec Králové
What was the motivation for starting the
project?
Due to the lack of young enterprise promotion and entrepreneurship
in general in the city of Hradec Kralove, it was decided to apply
for the project at the Czech Ministry of Industry and Trade. This
project was accompanied by the brownfield revitalization of the
former military airport.
How was the situation before initiating this project, was
the community involved? If so, in what way?
In the city of Hradec Kralove were some activities in building the
business like business clubs and clusters, but not for the start-up
community and students with an entrepreneurial spirit. For that
reason, our goal was to build healthy ecosystem which will become
attractive for entrepreneurs, students and key players in the field
of the enterprise (the regional Chamber of Commerce, clusters and
other public entities). Want to read the whole interview?
