Partners
In order to fulfill its objectives, EUKN works together with several international partners.
European Commission
The European Commission, more specifically, the DG for Regional Policy’s Urban Unit, has been actively involved from the very beginning of EUKN. DG Environment with its Thematic Strategy on the Urban Environment is also active in the field of urban policy, as is DG Justice when it comes to the crucial issue of social inclusion and integration. Both DG Environment and DG Research contribute knowledge to the EUKN.
The URBACT Programme

URBACT, the 'European Network for Exchange of Experience', is a European Commission programme that is part of the URBAN II Community Initiative. URBACT's objectives are to highlight best practices and to draw lessons from successes and weaknesses identified in these programmes. The target group is urban players from the 216 cities benefiting from the URBAN I and II programmes and Urban Pilot Projects.
EUROCITIES
EUROCITIES is the network of major European cities. Founded in 1986, the network brings together the local governments of more than 130 large cities in over 30 European countries. EUROCITIES provides a platform for its member cities to share knowledge and ideas, exchange experiences, analyse common problems and develop innovative solutions, through a wide range of forums, working groups, projects, activities and events.
European Metropolitan network
Institute (EMI)

The European Metropolitan network Institute (EMI) acts as a hub for knowledge and innovation management for European cities and metropolitan areas, with the mission of facilitating and empowering the implementation of “Europe 2020 - strategy for smart, sustainable and inclusive growth," at the sub-national level. The EMI serves as a bridge between policy makers, city officials and scholars in the European Union, providing a framework for realizing tailor-made and cross-sectoral solutions to common metropolitan issues.
European Website on
Integration

The European Website on Integration is an initiative of the Directorate General for Justice, Liberty and Security of the European Commission. the following institutions assuring their full partnership in
the future.

European Urban Research Association
(EURA)
The European Urban Research Association is an
international network of urban scholars, established in 1997.
At a time when global forces are strengthening and localism
struggles to reassert itself, there is a need to re-examine
the place which cities take in the social and economic order.
EURA is mainly European through its membership and expertise.
As the world goes urban, it is therefore timely to review and
reflect the role and function of the city in a changing
Europe, examine European cities' similar characteristics
(of history and heritage, of design and built form, of
politics, governance and democracy, of economic function, of
social structure and association) and their distinctive
features.
Organisation for Economic
Co-operation and Development (OECD)
