Turning Europe into a True Innovation Union
Innovation as described in the Innovation Union plan means change that speeds up and improves the way we develop, produce and access new products, industrial processes and services. This memo answers 47 questions which might be asked in relation to this Union as proposed in the Europe 2020 Flagship Initiative Innovation Union.
Description
The Innovation Union plan aims to turn Europe into a world-class science performer, to revolutionize the way public and private sectors cooperate, and to remove barriers preventing ideas from reaching the market. Regions and local authorities play an important role in the Innovation Union. Pivotal questions related to regional and local policy are for instance:
- Which role can regions play in increasing innovation potential?
- How is the Innovation Union going to stop the brain drain?
- What about eco-innovation?
- How will the Innovation Union affect public services?
- What is social innovation and its role in the Innovation Union?
Through answering these and more questions, the document further
clarifies the Innovation Union plan in the light of the efforts to
be taken by existing institutions and the collaboration between
different levels of government, the private sector and civil
society.
