The Null Euro Urbanismus project
The Null Euro Urbanismus project or 'Low Budget Urbanism' is dedicated to the search for good practice projects in the areas of urban construction, urban planning and urban development. The project pays special attention to practices that are distinguished by the relatively low involvement of municipal funds or are cost-neutral for the municipalities
Problem
The Null Euro Urbanismus project addresses the following basic questions:
-
What can municipalities do to develop and qualify the city effectively in times of empty purses;
-
Which measures trigger off local initiatives (in the area of urban agriculture, temporary use, sponsorships) and form new coalitions in municipalities?
Description
The Null Euro Urbanismus project focuses on planning practices, which means the real daily practice of implementing projects in collaboration with local partners, such as residents and investors. The encountered fields of this 'low budget urbanism ' are quite numerous; themes such as urban agriculture, temporary use, sponsorships etc. are just a few examples. The objective of the project is to create a transfer of knowledge – beyond national boarders - between municipalities and local stakeholders and to make a contribution to the debate on governance. The first research report (in German) – including a catalogue of good practice with several interviews - is available at the project’s website and is meant as a inspiration for practitioners and interested parties. The project pays attention to many low budget urbanism initiatives or projects.
