Dynamics of deprived neighbourhoods in the URBACT cities
Synthesis of URBACT networks' results focused on integrated urban development of deprived neighbourhoods in Europe.
From the outputs of five URBACT networks and working groups (CONET, REGGOV, TOGETHER, LC-FACIL and NODUS), the General Secretariat for urban and social development (SGCIV) has been conducted a synthesis of their results that highlights the practices of European cities related to the development of deprived neighbourhoods.
The described projects assume that people should remain at the heart of public policy in charge of addressing the problems of unemployment, health, safety and more broadly deteriorating housing and living environment of their neighbourhoods. The issue of governance – and especially the involvement of business and civil society in projects and management of those territories – were also at the heart of exchanges.
