Evaluation of the integrative Social City Programme NRW

Description

The “Social City” programme launched by the Land North Rhine-Westphalia in1993 aims at facing the spatial-social polarisation in cities and at stabilisingsocially discriminated urban neighbourhoods. The evaluation of the Programme wasset up in 1999 to get more information about outcomes and impacts of theregeneration strategies.

Background information

After a programme implementation of five years, questions arise about theoutcomes and impacts of the Social City Programme NRW. Therefore, since 1999, aconcept for the evaluation has been developed with representatives from theadministrative, scientific and practical sector led by ILS NRW.

Conclusions

The evaluation is ongoing. Project reports on some aspects exist (e.g. casestudy on the role of schools and education in neighbourhood regeneration).Currently (12/2005), there is no overall evaluation report available.
