The Smart City Event will take place in 2013 for the 3rd time. This large scale European conference hosts various cities, system operators, energy companies, industrial organizations and technological parties. South-East Europe is a part of the global green revolution - nearly 300 billion euros will be invested by 2020 in regional energy infrastructure, which will boost the economy by developing all-renewable energies and energy efficiency. Still, the Region lags behind the rest of Europe in EE & RE applying and is in a major need of up-to-date technologies and equipment for this purpose.

The world’s public transport community will convene in Geneva, Switzerland, for the 60th UITP World Congress and Mobility & City Transport Exhibition.The biennial event will focus on the urgent need to transform urban mobility: with unchallenged car dependency, cities across the world will lose out in competiveness and wealth creation failing to attract both businesses and people. The ‘green alliance’ of public transport, walking and cycling can fill that gap, but more is needed to change people’s mobility habits by providing services that fit changing lifestyle needs.

The International Bicycle Urbanism Symposium, to be held in Seattle in June 2013, will explore how best to encourage and facilitate widespread bicycle use in 21st Century cities. In some European and Asian cities, use of bicycles for several purposes and across several demographic groups accounts for a high proportion of daily trips. Increasing bicycle use has become the goal of many cities around the world – to reduce CO2 emissions, reduce dependence on imported oil, promote better health and quality of life, and to relieve traffic congestion and the space required by automobiles.
