3rd European Renewable Energy Policy Conference 2009 - Brussels, 9-11 February 2009

Introduction
After the great success of the 2007 edition of the European Renewable Energy Policy Conference, the 3rd European Renewable Energy Policy Conference 2009 will take place at the Flagey Convention Center in Brussels on the 9th and 11th February 2009, and will again be the major platform for interaction between policy and the renewable energy industry to discuss the role of renewables in “Energy Policy for Europe”. The 3rd European Renewable Energy Policy Conference will be held within the frame of the Czech Republic Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The first semester of 2009 will be crucial in finding an agreement on the Energy Package.
Description
Taking place from 9-11 February, the 3rd European Renewable Energy Policy Conference will provide a platform for the sharing of ideas, discussion of concepts and the making of recommendations for a future strategy towards a sustainable energy supply.
The Conference will:
  • Evaluate the new EU legislation in the field of renewable energy
  • Discuss the upcoming and existing promotional instruments for renewables
  • Highlight the effects of the new Renewable Energy Directive
  • Evaluate the investment needs
  • Explain the broader context of the energy and climate
  • Give insight into the RES industry’s perspectives & development
  • Provide a discussion forum for market & policy prospects, exchange of experience, reinforced policies and new renewable energy initiatives.
Subjects that will be discussed:
  • RES policy framework
  • Renewable energy - an emerging business sector
  • Renewable energy contributing to security of supply
  • Renewable energy - the solution to climate change
  • Global outlook.
