SCORUS calls for papers

SCORUS, the international network for regional and urban statistics, is organising its annual conference in Wroclaw, Poland on 30 August – 1 September 2006. Theme of the conference is “Globalization Impact on Regional and Urban Statistics”. SCORUS invites researchers to submit papers to be discussed at the conference. Deadline for submitting abstracts is 10 July, for the actual paper the deadline is set for 20 August 2006

Papers should cover one of the following themes:

Regional patterns of foreign direct investment;
International cities as poles of economic growth;
Regional effects of international migration;
Location, agglomeration and clustering;
Functional regions;
The role of international organisations in understanding globalisation;
China;
Measuring inequality at local level;
Regions of the world and their role in / impact on the global economy;
Geographical analyses: making the most of existing data.
