Reality”, aims to share the experience of those involved with the creation and
maintenance of sustainable communities. The conference is organised by the

with 2004’s winner and finalists and the 2003 winner of the Deputy Prime
Minister’s Awards for Sustainable Communities.
Description
The conference opening address will be made by a senior Cabinet minister.
Jess Steele, Deputy Chief Executive and Operations Director of the British Urban
Regeneration Association, will be looking at last year’s finalists to examine
common themes and key innovations.
The 2004 winner was Grange Park Community Project, Blackpool. At the awards
presentation ceremony Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott said: “The people of
Grange Park live in one of the most deprived parts of the country... But they
were determined to do something about it... Thanks to their energy and
commitment, they’ve found new security and confidence in the place where they
live.”
Of the 2003 winner, Beacon Project, Falmouth, he said: “If every
