Polycentric Urban Development and Rural-Urban Relations – The Hague, 25 April 2006 25-04-2006 Introduction ESPON and INTERACT together organise this conference on rural-urban
partnerships and polycentric urban development. These themes are addressed in a
wide range of INTERREG projects and activities, from studies and strategies, to
partnerships and infrastructure investments. At the conference, the variety of
approaches to these concepts will be discussed alongside ESPON research findings
on territorial developments. The conference will see the presentation of initial
results of a joint INTERACT-ESPON study on Polycentric Urban Development and
Rural-Urban Relations.

Spatial Planning Observation Network.
INTERACT stands for
INTERREG Animation Cooperation and Transfer. INTERACT is part of the Community
Initiative INTERREG.
INTERREG III is a
Community Initiative which aims to stimulate interregional cooperation in the EU
between 2000-06. It is financed by the European Regional Development Fund
(ERDF).
