European Industrial Heritage; the Challenge – Hengelo, 18-19 May 2006
18-05-2006

Introduction
“European Industrial Heritage; the Challenge” focuses on brownfield redevelopment and the reuse of industrial heritage. The conference is organised by the City of Hengelo. The City of Hengelo is one of the partners of the EU REVIT project. Several presentations and field visits will elaborate on the current paradigm on the subject, from a European, national, regional and local perspective. This broad perspective enables everyone who is involved in the revitalisation of industrial heritage to experience current developments and update their knowledge.
Description
Within North-West Europe, six partners (Stuttgart, Medway, Nantes, Tilburg, Torfaen and Hengelo) have come together to improve the regeneration of their brownfield sites by sharing experience and developing new concepts and innovative approaches. Until August 2007, the transnational working teams will develop new approaches for different aspects of brownfield regeneration. Recommendations on intelligent re-use of industrial heritage potentials are part of the Joint Pilot Projects. The REVIT project is an EU Interreg IIIb programme.
