Introduction

The theme of the European Talks is “From the ecological and cultural dream to the achievement of the sustainable city.” This conference is organised by the City of Lille within the framework of the “LILLE week”.

Description

At the conference the following themes are to be discussed:

How to render the city attractive while respecting the natural balances and also favouring social and territorial cohesion?
How to promote the implementation of “sustainable” urban projects?
How to rediscover the appeal of the city linked to creativity, dynamism, cultural and social abundance?

The European Talks are organised by the City of Lille in partnership with the CAUE du Nord (Conseil d’Architecture, d’Urbanisme et de l’Environnement, the Council for Architecture, Urbanism and the Environment) and the CIR (Centre Interdisciplinaire de Recherche comparative en Sciences Sociales, Interdiscipliary Centre for Comparative Research in the Social Sciences). Users, experts, practitioners, elected representatives, university members, local actors shall meet to achieve “the sustainable city” of tomorrow. Visits, production exchange workshops, a public conference, round table talks, urban walks are on the agenda.
