Regions and Cities: Partners for Growth and Jobs – Barcelona, 1-2 June 2006 01-06-2006 Introduction The conference is organised by the government of Catalonia, in cooperation
with the European Commission and the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Finance. At
the conference the use of Community Funds for urban development in the upcoming
financial programming period 2007-2013 will be debated.
Description
At the event, over 500 people will participate. Participants include members
of the European Commission, Members of the European Parliament, the Committee of
the Regions and the Economic and Social Committee, as well as representatives
from all Member States, including national Ministries, regional Governments,
mayors, city organisations and practitioners in the fields of urban development
and urban regeneration.
The debate will centre on proposals from the new Community regulations on the
Structural Funds that provide for the development of urban actions in the new
generation of regional and national programmes. The conference wants to generate
ideas for a successful integration of urban development measures in the next
generation of Community programmes.
