Powerful Cities and Regions through European Structural Funds – Bonn, 29-30 August 2006

Introduction
"Fit for the Future: Powerful Cities and Regions through European Structural Funds 2007 - 2013" is an international kick-off conference on the new funding period 2007 – 2013. At the conference high-level experts of the European Commission, the German Ministries at federal and state level and European practitioners will elaborate on the funding possibilities for cities and regions in the coming EU budgetary period.
Description
The conference will address questions such as: 
  • What chances does the support by EU structural funds offer to cities and regions from 2007, and how can they contribute to more growth and employment? 
  • What are the regional innovation strategies needed to create jobs and entrepreneurial initiative? 
  • What possibilities do cities have when they shape and design integrated and sustainable urban development concepts? 
  • What are the best-practice experiences of the current funding period from which regional and municipal economic development promotion could benefit in the period 2007-2013?
Working languages of the conference will be German and English. Simultaneous translation will be provided.
