The i2010 for European Regions and Cities Conference - Olomouc, 26 - 27 September 2006
26-09-2006

Introduction
Supported by the European Commission (under INTEREG IIIC) and the Region of Olomouc, this conference will bring together representatives from the European Commission and delegates from national and regional government as well as commercial and research organisations across Europe to share knowledge and experience, lessons learnt and good practice.
Description
The goals of the i2010 for European Regions and Cities Conference are to stimulate discussion of opportunities for European regions and cities to leverage funding available from the European Commission for Information Society related Programmes, and to promote knowledge sharing and exchange experiences about the current state of Information Society related activities at a regional and city government level across Europe.
The Conference will provide an excellent networking environment to discuss problems and new ideas, share knowledge and experience, identify potential partners and discuss proposal ideas with European Commission representatives. It will provide a forum to showcase existing innovation in regional and city government, achievements funded under European Commission, national and regional programmes, and look forward to the future by focusing on i2010 and specific related priorities. These priorities include
  • Content and Cultural Heritage
  • eGovernment and eDemocracy
  • ICT Clusters and Inward Investment
  • Mobility (Wireless and Broadband)
Programme
The programme will combine opening and closing plenary sessions and parallel sessions focused on different thematic areas addressed by e2010. Each parallel session will feature a mix of presentations from local and regional government, the European Commission as well as Champion Projects from across Europe, who will demonstrate specific examples of regional innovation.
The conference will also feature an Exhibition and Social Events to showcase regional innovation (e.g. use of geo-spatial data, digital libraries, packaging of public sector data, services to citizens or business) and enhance networking opportunities during the Conference.
