CECODHAS “the future of social housing in the EU” – Brussels, 13 September 2006

Introduction
The CECODHAS European Social Housing Observatory organises this colloquium entitled "Current developments in housing policies and housing markets in Europe: implications for the social housing sector”. This is the first of a series of three colloquia which will mark the public launch of the CECODHAS European Social Housing Observatory. The aim is to bring academics and practitioners together to reflect on the key challenges for social housing provision in Europe over the coming years.
Description
This first colloquium will address the economic dimension, and will be structured around two main themes:
  • Home-ownership trends and social housing in Europe
  • Privatization of social housing in Europe
The Observatory is a research and knowledge engine for CECODHAS policy work. Its main aim is to identify and analyse key trends and research needs in the field of housing and social housing at European level. CECODHAS, established in 1988, is the European network for the promotion of the right to decent housing for all. 46 regional and national federations are CECODHAS members Together they represent over 39.000 public, voluntary and cooperative social housing enterprises in 19 countries.
