Description
The first European Congress of Science Cities takes place from 7 - 9
November 2006 in Magdeburg. Mayors of German and European cities, boards of
managers of European companies and politicians will get together to propel
forward the lasting structural change and the innovative urban development all
over Europe. Together with futurologists and representatives of scientific and
cultural institutions they will discuss the best-practice examples of using
science for the development of the city of the future all over Europe.
The congress will especially be devoted to how to use science as an engine of
innovations and for the lasting structural change and it will discuss this
together with the participating decision makers. The highlight of the European
Congress of Science Cities will be the “declaration of Magdeburg” in that the
participating European cities declare themselves as cities of science.
The official responsible body of the congress is the state capital Magdeburg,
the provincial government of Saxony-Anhalt and the Benefactor Organization for
German Science in cooperation with the EU-project “European Science and City –
Promoting Scientific Culture in a local level”.
Programme
Different approaches of the urban development will be act during the three
days of the congress in panels taken with high-ranking persons, creative
workshops and in a relaxed get together. Leading advertising professionals point
out the influence of marketing strategies on the sustainability of a city,
financial experts introduce communal financial models and manager will precise
the demands of the economy on a city of the future.
