Introduction
The International Association Cities and Ports (IACP) organises its tenth international conference in Sydney, Australia. This year´s theme is “Urban territories, Port territories, what future in common? The question at hand during this five day conference is “how to succeed in reorganizing ones city-port development space in a process of sustainable development?”
Description
In reference to this question, six topics will be addressed.
  • Anticipating the scarcity of development space: a common territory to reorganise or to imagine.
  • Making port functions and urban waterfront cohabit: a new conception for the city - port interface spaces.
  • Ensuring urban and port mobility: a strategic reflection to be carried out in order to anticipate the crisis.
  • Guaranteeing flows between city and port: new instruments and a new governance for a shared space.
  • Integrating environmental questions: the reorganisation of the city port territory in a process of sustainable development.
  • The reinforcement of social coherence: an advantage for competitiveness and the attractiveness of city-port territories.
The IACP is an international network of economic and political bodies representing port cities. It was established in 1988 on the initiative of cities, ports and their institutional and economic partners to create a permanent structure for the exchange of information and contacts in order to follow projects through in the best possible conditions. The IACP aims to exchange information and contacts between the world of the city and that of the port.
