Introduction

Waterfront City will share the findings and recommendations of the Waterfront Communities Project – a learning network of 9 North Sea cities engaged in regenerating their waterfronts.

Description

The conference will explore the multiple challenges of remaking waterfront places and include topics such as:

the relationship between the waterfront and the city region in planning policy
visioning and consensus building
integrating existing with new communities
involving citizens in new development planning
21st century housing solutions
transport and relinking the waterfront with the city centre
design quality and public realm
harbour heritage and arts and culture as a catalyst to regeneration
bridging activities - the management of port transition

The conference will bring a mix of international and regional contributors to investigate and present challenges and proposed solutions. These will be presented by partner cities actively engaged in delivering projects and driving policy. A set of guidelines for successful waterfront development will be launched at this event with a copy available for all delegates.
