2007 Civicus World Assembly – Glasgow, 23-27 May 2007
23-05-2007

Introduction
The Civicus World Assembly is a forum for international civil society representatives to get together, exchange ideas, experiences and build strategies for a just world. The theme for the three upcoming annual world assemblies, all to be held in Glasgow, is “Acting Together for a Just World”.
Description
Civicus is an international alliance established in 1993 to nurture the foundation, growth and protection of citizen action throughout the world, especially in areas where participatory democracy and citizens' freedom of association are threatened.
Civicus aims to contribute towards a healthy global society that:
  • recognises citizen intervention as a vital aspect of political, economic and cultural life
  • enables citizen bodies to interact openly and legitimately with government and business
  • strikes a fair balance in the relationship between a society’s citizens and its businesses and government
