2007 Transforming Local Government conference ‘Leadership’ – Bellevue, 6-8 June 2007 06-06-2007 Introduction The Transforming Local Government (TLG) conference represents the epitome of
innovation in the public sector. TLG is notorious for powerful content that
summons freethinking and fosters unprecedented ideas, all within an oasis of
networking and learning. This dynamic conference is unique, focusing on building
trust within the organisation, sustaining hope through the transformation
process, and using the best tools to guide internal government groups and
communities through powerful change initiatives.
Description
Each year the TLG conference is held within a model community that reflects
applied innovation, creative, resourcefulness, and serviceable. The city of
Bellevue, Washington was selected as the 2007 conference host city as it
inspires other municipalities to advance their organisation’s mission and to
move towards a realisation of its vision.
This year’s conference theme is leadership. Leadership will be examined as
actions that target progress in which local governments engage the real problem
versus symptoms, decoy concerns, or false tasks. Are we facing or avoiding
reality?
The conference addressed this theme through Applied Innovation Studies. These
deliver unprecedented ideas, concepts, and procedures. Local governments will
present how they achieved powerful results from intuitive, value driven ideas.
