VISP final conference on city centre revitalisation - Enschede, 7-8 June 2007
07-06-2007

Introduction
The Vitalizing city centres through Integrated Spatial Planning (VISP) project tests new approaches to successfully revitalise city centres and urban areas through cross border cooperation. The project is organised under the Interreg IIIB North Sea programme.
Description
The project focused on four issues:
  • the integration of physical, economic, social and environmental outcomes to create sustainable solutions to urban revitalisation
  • the promotion and delivery of life long learning to a variety of urban communities
  • purposeful networking between public and private organisations, research and NGOs
  • increased citizens participation in the processes of urban revitalisation
The conference will host a special ‘urban futures workshop’ for mayors and aldermen and elected members interested in promoting new projects and collaboration to create sustainable and competitive cities in the North Sea Region.
