Whole Life Urban Sustainability and its Assessment – Glasgow, 27-29 June 2007
27-06-2007

Introduction
This international conference is themed “Sustainable Urban Development: Meeting the Challenges of Whole Life Assessments”. The conference is organised by SUE-MoT, a consortium of Dundee, Glasgow Caledonian, Loughborough and St Andrews Universities.
Description
The importance of urban areas within the broader context of the sustainability agenda can neither be over emphasised nor overlooked. The design, scale, quality and distribution of the built environment are key determinants of the well-being of these areas and the quality of life of their inhabitants. The need for robust assessment mechanisms is especially important in the context of sustainability, where inherent breadth and complexity requires consistent protocols that will inform the decision-making process.
The organisers encourage submission of papers relating to the conference theme, especially on and around the following areas:

  • Design tools for sustainable buildings
  • Economics of urban sustainability
