Cities against Terrorism - final conference - Brussels, 10-11 September 2007

Introduction
The European Forum for Urban Safety and the Security Observatory organises the final conference of the Cities against Terrorism (CAT) project. The event will be an opportunity to share and analyse the experiences of cities dealing with terrorism. New questions related to the role of local authorities in facing terrorist threats will be addressed.
Description
Some of the subjects that will be addressed during the conference are:
  • prevention of terrorism - from cooperation to partnership
  • emergency acts and crisis management after a terrorist attack 
  • european experiences of support for the victims of terrorism
  • terrorism and developing intercommunity relations 
  • nationalism and terrorism - an European perspective
The Cities against Terrorism project is organised in the framework of SecuCities. The conference will discuss the CAT project results worked out during the four preceding local seminars, organised in: 
  • Bristol – United Kingdom 
  • Lisbon – Portugal 
  • Katowice – Poland 
  • Tubingen – Germany
In addition to the conclusions of the above local seminars, the conference will disseminate the final report and the training guidelines for local authorities.
