Training session: How to use the power of your citizens – The Hague, 16-21 September 2007 16-09-2007 Introduction Do you regard your citizens as neighbourhood experts? Or do you merely see
them as an obstacle to achieving your plans? This training course will show how
your municipality can benefit by involving your citizens in a smart way.
Description
The training course is organised by The Hague Academy for Local Governance
and Residents for Regeneration Europe (R4R), a network of active citizens from
different European cities. It includes a theoretical part in which professors
discuss with you different roles in citizen participation processes as well as
leadership issues.
Most of the training course takes place on the spot, with visits to different
European cities where residents have been able to make a difference thanks to
effective partnerships with their municipalities. Here, participants can
exchange experiences and discuss do’s and don’ts with citizens, governors and
municipal officers. Besides theory and field visits, actors will take
participants back to Shakespearean times and reflect on power and leadership.
This training session is organised by the The Hague Academy for Local
