Urban Trialogues: Co-productive ways to relate visioning and strategic urban projects – Antwerp, 19-23 September 2007 19-09-2007 Introduction The International Society of City and Regional Planners (ISoCaRP) organises
its 43rd International Planning Congress. The congress will focus on “strategic
urban projects” in a complex, multicultural and diverse context both in
developed and developing countries.
Description
Strategic projects are considered necessary to achieve normative policy goals
(such as sustainable development, poverty reduction, disaster prevention,
security,…) and aim to integrate different goals and objectives of a diversity
of “actors” and stakeholders (the civil society, the private sector, as well as
the inhabitants and users of the area).
All over the world, planners, academics and practitioners are looking for more strategic, feasible and development-oriented approaches, combining long-term visioning with concrete actions and projects. Therefore, the congress hopes to achieve the “exploration and “evaluation” of
