Integrated Urban Regeneration Conference – Copenhagen, 10-11 October 2007
10-10-2007

Introduction
The Danish National Secretariat for Urban Regeneration of the Ministry of Refugee, Immigration and Integration Affairs organises this conference to celebrate the results of more than ten years with Kvarterløft – the Danish Integrated Urban Regeneration programme. The conference will see the publication of a book on Integrated Urban Regeneration in Denmark, which has been produced for the occasion.
Description
To celebrate the results two conferences are organised. The first one is internationally oriented and the second is nationally oriented. For people who can participate in discussions in both English and Danish it is possible to join both conference (most Scandinavians will be able to do that, indeed it’s recommended to do so as the two conferences complement each other).
The conferences follow up on the German Presidency’s focus on integrated approach, with a closer look at the reports produced during this presidency. The integrated approach will furthermore be covered through both theoretical discussions, as well as in practice at onsite workshops. At the same time, the conference links to the Portuguese Presidency with a strong focus on knowledge-dissemination. Representatives from URBACT, EUKN, and The Academy for Sustainable Communities (ASC) will speak on this topic.
The conferences will address questions such as:
  • What are the critical problems that all area based interventions have to face?
  • How do we make social and ethnic integration a strong element in the interventions?
  • Can you create urban spaces and buildings with a high architectural quality when public participation has a big role in the process?
Concurrently with the international conference, the European Knowledge Network (EUKN) will hold a National Focal Point Day on the 10th of October when the rest of the conference is having thematic workshops. The EUKN secretariat will send a special program to the National Focal Points.
