Rail~Volution 2007 – Miami Beach, 31 October-3 November 2007
31-10-2007

Introduction
Rail~Volution is a conference for passionate practitioners - people from all perspectives who believe strongly in the role of land use and transit as equal partners in the quest for greater liveability and greater communities. Rail~Volution aims to create a living, breathing laboratory where the best new ideas from around the United States are introduced, researched and tested thoroughly, and then shared among like-minded colleagues. The conference combines hands-on workshops, symposia that provide in-depth explorations of transit issues, and inspiring plenary sessions.
Description
You should attend the conference if you:
  • want to see your community adopt an innovative approach to transit and other alternative forms of transportation
  • work in the private sector and want to have meaningful interactions with potential new clients
  • work in the public sector and want to learn best practices along with colleagues from around the United States and beyond
  • want to have a stronger voice in how your community plans for future growth
A call for project presentations has been issued for Rail~Volution 2007. These should focus on communities’ efforts to:
  • foster a regional dialogue on the connections between land use and transportation
  • implement/refine policies that are supportive of mixed-use and transit-oriented development
  • build a world-class transit system that is sensitive to the context of the communities it traverses
  • spur development and development opportunities supportive of walkable, transit-friendly places
  • unify support through the community and media for investment in transit/expansion of the initial system
  • design and redesign places for people
  • work with United States’ federal and local governments and private partners to get transit projects and liveable communities built
  • promote sustainability for transit and development at the neighbourhood, local and regional level
Deadline for submitting presentations is 13 April 2007.
