European cities integrating migrants: from Amsterdam to Zagreb - Brussels, 7 April 2008
07-04-2008

Introduction
How best to implement migration and housing policies at the local level? This will be one of the main questions of the conference organised by the CLIP - the European network of cities for local integration policies for migrants - at the Committee of the Regions, in Brussels, on 7 April 2008.
Description
The conference "European cities integrating migrants" aims to debate on policies of local governance for integration and access to housing and on personnel policies of local authorities and available services for migrants. It will be organised around four round tables which will address the issues of:
  • Good practices in local governance with regards to integration policy for migrants;
  • Innovative policies to support a better access to affordable housing for migrants;
  • Personnel policy of local authorities towards migrants;
  • Good practices in terms of service provisions for migrants.
The conference will bring together European policymakers, mayors of several European cities, experts, national and regional representatives, civil society and social partners.
It is jointly organised by the Committee of the Regions, the European Commission, the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe and Eurofound – the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions.
Registration is open until 25 March 2008.
