Energy Efficiency and Urban Development - Madrid, 16-18 June 2008 16-06-2008 Introduction Energy efficiency is an important strategy for cities to tackle climate
change. Improving efficiency in the way we use and develop urban land, in the
transportation sector as well as in the design of commercial and residential
buildings can help moderate global climate change while contributing to a more
sustainable energy future. CEIM (Madrid Business Association) and INTA joined
their efforts to organise a debate on energy efficiency and urban development
focusing on two main themes: Energy as challenge and opportunity for sustainable
urban development and Innovative planning as challenge and solution for
sustainable cities.
