Cities of Opportunity - the urban promise of upward mobility - Rotterdam, 22-23 September 2008 22-09-2008 Introduction On 22 and 23 September the EUKN International Conference took place in
Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Over 135 participants and speakers participated in
this highly rated event.
Description
Speakers from all over Europe shared their vision and knowledge on the role
of cities for socioeconomic development, reflecting on the conference theme "
Cities of Opportunity – the urban promise of upward mobility". In a series of
onsite visits throughout Rotterdam, the participants saw development in practice
- not just from a Dutch perspective, but with a view from other European
countries as well. Each Rotterdam project had been coupled to one or more
similar projects from other countries in Europe.
The EUKN International Conference was organised by the European Urban
Knowledge Network in cooperation with the City of Rotterdam, the Ministry of the
Interior and Kingdom Relations and Nicis Institute.
