European Prize for Urban Public Space: Call for entries 15-12-2005 The European Prize for Urban Public Space is a biennial competition organised
to highlight the importance of public space as a catalyst of urban life. One of
the aims of the prize is to foster investment by public administrations for the
creation, conservation and improvement of urban public space. The prize is
awarded to both the author of the project and its promoter institutions.
The Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona (CCCB) awards the prize in
collaboration with the Institut Français d’Architecture (Paris), the Nederlands
Architectuurinstituut (Rotterdam), The Architecture Foundation (London) and the
Architekturzentrum Wien (Vienna), under the auspices of the GAUDI programme,
which is partially financed by the European Commission.
The fourth award of the prize will be awarded in July 2006 in Barcelona to
major works of creating and remodelling public spaces that have been completed
in Europe between 2004 and 2005. Projects can be submitted between 15 January
and 15 March 2006.
