Award and prize money for innovative housing projects 03-11-2006 The Building and Social Housing Foundation (BSHF) is currently seeking
entries for the World Habitat Awards 2007 competition. Projects that provide
practical and innovative solutions to current housing needs and problems are
eligible to enter the contest. One project from the global north and one project
from the global south will be awarded the UN Habitat Award and £10,000 in prize
money.
The World Habitat Awards were initiated in 1985. They seek to identify
solutions to current housing issues faced by countries of the Global South as
well as the North.

The competition is open to all individuals and organisations, including
central and local governments, NGOs, community-based groups, research
organisations and the private sector. Deadline for submitting projects is 1 June
2007.
Each year a panel of international judges assesses the projects entered for
the competition and selects two winners – one from the global North and one from
the South. The winners are announced at the annual United Nations global
celebration of World Habitat Day, which next year is due to take place on Monday
1st October.
