Thirteen projects compete in final round of the European Enterprise Awards 14-11-2006 The European Enterprise Awards competition recognises and awards innovative
and creative enterprise initiatives by local and regional authorities throughout
Europe. It is open to local and regional authorities in the European Union,
Bulgaria, Iceland, Norway, Romania and Turkey. A European-level jury will select
the winner of the main prize and the winners of each of five categories. The
winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on 7 December 2006.
More than 400 projects from 28 countries competed for the European Enterprise
Awards. A total of 51 projects were selected at the national qualifying event of
this two-stage competition, 13 of which got through to the second stage, the
European award level. The competition is organised by the Finnish Presidency,
the European Commission, and the EU Committee of the Regions.
The objective of the competition is to showcase and share information on best
entrepreneurship policies and practices, creating greater awareness of the role
entrepreneurs play in society. Creating models for good enterprise projects
elsewhere in Europe is another key objective.
