Participate in town twinning! 23-11-2006 In the framework of the European Commission's new programme “Europe for
citizens” 2007-2013, European municipalities and cities are invited to
participate in town twinning activities.
Town twinning is aimed at promoting direct exchanges between European
citizens and encouraging the organisation of conferences or seminars on subjects
of common interest to EU citizens. Its goal is also to contribute to
strengthening mutual knowledge and understanding between the citizens.
A guide to the programme 2007-2013 has also been published for municipalities
and cities wishing to participate in these activities. It includes the actions
funded under the programme, the priority themes, the eligibility criteria as
well as the budgets allocated to town twinning. This guide can be found in the
“links” section at the bottom of this page.
