Innovation potential of cities and regions in Hungary
Introduction
Spatial oriented study scoped out the innovation potential of the Hungarian cities.
Description
The study gives an overview about the state of affairs on elements of innovation potential in Hungarian cities. The condition of University R&D placement, number and structure of research institutes supported by the national government, business R&D and innovative microregional programmes are investigated in the study. On the basis of its statements the study summarizes the city’s ability for renewal, and drafts some potential model for regional innovation programmes.
Background information
Increasing regional innovation potential is a basis for a growing regional competitiveness. A significant percent of the Hungarian cities might have appropriate ability to become more competitive throughout the development of their innovation potential. To develop and realise some proper regional innovation programme a comprehensive study missed: this overview remedied the deficit.
Methodology
The study supported by the National Research and Development Programme 2001-2004; the work was managed by the Hungarian Academy for Science Institute for Regional Studies. The research uses the method of statistical analysis and examines the state of affairs regards to the potential elements of the innovation in Hungarian cities.
Conclusions
The study gives an overview about the preparation of a regional innovation strategy. It contains a description of a step-by-step process throughout a regional innovation strategy could be prepare.
