Summary Bedrijvencentrum Gilde is intended for two groups of people who live in Eindhoven and want to start their own business: disadvantaged individuals who want to start their own company and well-educated beginning entrepreneurs.

The municipality developed the business centre in collaboration with the economic development agency NV REDE. Entrepreneurs who were unemployed prior to starting their own company may be offered special assistance in the form of graduated rent subsidy and professional guidance. This concept is special in that the building is located at a prime location in the city centre in close proximity to a number of deprived districts and the target group is made up of a mix of entrepreneurs.

Approach

Depending on the target group, the business centre offers office, workshop and production space. The office units are particularly suitable for companies specialising in business services. The workshops and industrial space are intended as accommodation for activities of an industrial or craft-related nature. In some instances, products made on site may be sold directly to the end user. Office units are available starting at 20 m². Rent at Bedrijvencentrum Gilde is relatively low.

Results

This combination proves to work very well in practice, and after a number of years various start-ups have grown so much that they have had to look elsewhere for suitable premises.
