Technology park of Andalusia – Malaga, ES
Introduction
In 1995, the Technology Park of Andalusia (PTA) was officially opened. It has expanded ever since, physically but also in terms of operating figures and the number of people it employs.
Problem
The PTA was created to boost the industrial sector in Malaga and Andalusia.
Description
The PTA is a technological nucleus to stimulate industry in Andalusia. It supports diverse functions, including:
  • the generation of scientific and technological knowledge;
  • the implementation of industrial activities and top quality services to enable the application and experimentation of new technologies;
  • the creation of structures providing technological and training services for enterprises and institutions.
The PTA is home to multinational companies, university institutions and SMEs.
The added value of the PTA is that it offers the companies located in its premises and their employees a series of services, including telecommunications, rental of meeting rooms, availability of qualified staff, quality services provided through the Internet and a training centre where courses related to new technologies are taught.
Results
Since it was created, the PTA has grown every year, with respect to the number of companies in the Park, the number of workers and their turnover, independently of the general economic situation of the region.
Resources used
The total cost of the development of the PTA was 45.9 million euros.
The European Commission provided 27.2 million euros.
