The Link (Linkki) – Co-ordination Project for Development of East Turku
Introduction
East Turku Co-ordination Project Linkki co-ordinates The Objective 2 Urban development work in East Turku. The motto is: a good program is more than the outcome of the projects included.
Problem
The need to allocate the resources to respond the strategic guidelines of the city and the needs of the local area. The visibility of the program.
Description
The development work in East Turku is carried out by an integrated project scheme. Different projects cover a wide range of different measures from reducing the (long term) unemployment to enhancing the marketing the Turku Science Park area as a settle-down area for big companies and enterprises and to developing two family tourism tourist attractions into more profitable products etc.
The amount of different projects run by the city of Turku is 12 at the moment. In addition, there are 5 projects which are run by other actors, for example the university, third sector organisations etc.
The purpose of the co-ordination unit Linkki is to ensure that the strategic guidelines are implified in the body consisting of various projects. This is done by monitoring, consulting, distributing information and evaluating the entity of various projects.
Approach
A team of four people, situated at the City Office of Turku, co-ordinates the co-operation between different partners.
Results
The entity/body of various projects follows fairly closely the qualitative and strategic goals set by city, financers and other partners.
Beneficiaries
The residents and the geographical target area, administration and strategic planning of the city and the partners.
Resources used
Labour resources: Project Manager, Project Consultant, Communications Co-ordinator and Co-ordinator of Economy. In addition to this, funding and close co-operation with the key partners are crucial elements to reach the targets.

The project is partially funded by EU’s structure funds (ERDF)
