Eindhoven "Leading in technology"
Introduction
With the slogan Eindhoven "Leading in Technology" Eindhoven has been presenting itself - especially in a regional context – as a national and European knowledge region.
Problem
How can the City of Eindhoven reinforce its image?
Description
The aim is to reinforce the image of international technology region. Eindhoven is designated in the Spatial Memorandum and Peaks in the Delta as the centre of the Top Technology Region and the most important R&D- and technology cluster in the Netherlands. Eindhoven has collaborated with Leuven and Aachen in the area of technology. There is focused advertising, lobbying and a website has been developed. A Design Week has also been organised.
Approach
The regional bodies Stimulus, the NV Rede and also the Chamber of Commerce are all closely involved. For the co-ordination of the promotion, the Co-ordinating Body for Eindhoven Regional Promotion was set up. In a broader context, besides Leuven and Aachen, there is also collaboration in "Brabantstad ", a partnership of Eindhoven, Helmond, Den Bosch, Tilburg and Breda.
The big trump card is the High-Tech Campus initiated by Philips. Stimulus and the EU are together investing in the Eindhoven Regional Technology Liaison, which will set up a very active promotional and recruitment policy to put the region of Eindhoven, with Eindhoven’s High-Tech Campus as the showpiece, more prominently on the international top technology map.
Results
  • Eindhoven’s entrepreneurs value the promotion and acquisition policy relatively highly and this sentiment is increasing substantially.
  • According to reports from the city, 4000 new high- technology jobs have already been created. Important driving forces behind this development are, for example, the Stimulus programmes, but also the development of Science Park Eindhoven and Flight Forum.
