In the preparation of the document “Katowice 2020-City Development Strategy” following organs have been involved: Katowice City Council, employees of the Strategic and Regional Research Department of the Academy of Economics in Katowice members of the Research and Project Team, Steering Committee composed of representatives of the city authorities, Teams for the Report and Strategy, Programming Committee composed of approximately 100 representatives of the most important institutions and organizations acting in the area of the City of Katowice and co-operating with the city, as well as the Analytic and Technical Group responsible for the organization and technical service of the whole process. In the scope of the strategy preparation five areas, the most important for the further development of the City of Katowice, have been assigned. As its result, the Strategy covers description of five particular strategic fields, vision of the development of Katowice, assigned development priorities, strategic goals and directions of activities as well as a list of projects to be realized in the years 2007 – 2013. Besides, the strategy also includes a ratio system of evaluation and monitoring of the strategy realization.
