Strategy of regional development is an instrument of planning and management using by regional authorities for aiding development. It determines also a concept of operations connected with sustainable development of the region, which is presented in the form of compact document which includes the procedures of achieving the intended purposes. Such document consists of diagnosis of current social and economic situation, SWOT analysis, strategic purposes and mechanism of monitoring and correction of strategy putting into life. Efficiency of realized strategy results from the level of engagement in process of its development representative of all institutions and interest groups in the region. The role of regional government is to initiate, through the strategy, any operations, also economic ventures, that can be factors of development.
