Explores where these cities are in terms of investment, job creation, and encouraging people back to work and live in the city. Explains why cities are crucial to the economic development and stability of the economy. Charts the economic performance of leading European cities ranked by GDP per capita. Assesses the economic growth of the eight UK cities, and looks at employment, how the environment is improving, investing in housing stock, and strategies tackling social exclusion. Considers the future development of these cities.
