Mobile exhibition Over(al)tijd
Introduction
Over(al)tijd is a mobile exhibition of time and space (or a mobile exhibition of daily scheduling and spatial planning) which travels through the country and where lectures and workshops are organised at the request of the placement party.
Problem
The mobile exhibition Over(al)tijd shows professionals from the spatial sectors what is possible and conceivable regarding the integration  of thematic schedules (time, course of life) with the development and layout of space.
Description
The mobile exhibition Over(al)tijd shows professionals from the spatial sectors what is possible and conceivable regarding the integration of thematic schedules (time, course of life) with the development and layout of space. Visions and results are presented which are the results of experiments developed within the framework of Made to Measure Space (Ruimte op Maat, national measure to encourage scheduling). Visitors are encouraged to become acquainted with these and take inspiration from them for their own work.
Approach
The exhibition was launched on 1 September 2003 at the Netherlands Ministry of Housing Spatial Planning and the Environment (VROM) and since then has been touring throughout the Netherlands. The following activities are being undertaken to attract parties for placement:
- Promotion of the exhibition and associated placement opportunities.
- Development and execution of workshops on offer.
Results
The targeted results from potential location parties are:
  • Interest in placement of the exhibition, with or without a workshop;
  • Actual placement as indicated above.
The targeted results from among the visitors are:
  • Increasing awareness of and familiarity with the connection between various activity patterns, shortage of time, spatial bottlenecks and the ways in which this can be capitalised through spatial development (concepts, design strategies, planning processes).
  • Providing incentives, encouragement and inspiration for the application  of the information on offer in individual work processes.
  • The availability of fact sheets for distribution.
  • The ordering of one or more of the products on show.
  • Reactions in a guestbook, via email or in some other way.
Financing
The Project Bureau Scheduling of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment made EUR 84,242 available for the first part of the project, the creation of the exhibition and the first three placements (1 November 2002 to 1 November 2003).
The Project Bureau provided subsidy of EUR 54,928 for the second part of the project, the promotion and exploitation (another 11 placements and 7 workshops, 1 October 2003 to 1 April 2005).
