The role of Danish municipalities in the realisation of the Lisbon Strategy
Introduction
The goal of the Lisbon Strategy is that EU Member States, including local authorities, create new and better jobs and significant growth. This can for example be done through investment in education, research and innovation. In Denmark, municipalities are the main providers of welfare services and thus have major influence on Danish society and the way in which Denmark prepares for globalisation. Therefore, the EU’s Lisbon Strategy is important to Danish municipalities and the municipalities are important to the Lisbon Strategy. This booklet gives a number of examples of how Danish municipalities deal with global challenges. These examples are intended as an inspiration to European local authorities countries and as a contribution to making the Lisbon Strategy present and relevant.
Description
This booklet provides examples of initiatives launched by Danish municipalities in the field of:
  • Education
  • Labour market
  • Business
  • Innovation, research & dialogue
  • Energy & environment
