Network lead
The network was born of the results obtained from a study of violence against women in Cascais which demonstrated that resources were already in place and that professionals accompany cases of domestic violence. However, the need for greater institutional articulation was identified, the professionals stated they had little knowledge of the resources available and that they required training in the specific area of domestic violence.
Objectives
  • To promote a better understanding of domestic violence in the Cascais District through a rationale of research-action;
  • To prevent violent behaviour amongst adults, young people and children by means of awareness campaigns and projects geared towards specific groups;
  • To provide quality support for victims of domestic violence in the various institutions of the Cascais District and minimise the damage caused to children.
Products
  • Manuals for children’s teachers;
  • leaflets about the project;
  • Resources Handbook;
  • Campaign (posters) geared towards the health sector;
  • newsletter;
  • victim case histories;
  • quantitative reports on domestic violence in Cascais;
