Partnership in public services: an action plan for third sector involvement - UK

Introduction

The government's action plan to improve its partnership working with the voluntary and community sector in the delivery of public services.

Description

The action plan explains the background to the move to using the third, or voluntary and community, sector to deliver public services. It identifies four key elements of the government's engagement with the sector:

the commissioning of services
the procurement of services
learning from the third sector
supporting the role of the sector in holding services to account

For each of these areas the plan sets out actions. There is some discussion on how the government will support the development of the sector's overall capacity and how it will measure success.

Case studies of good practice in partnerships between the third sector and the public sector are included.
