Neighbourhood Renewal Routemap
Introduction
Neighbourhood Renewal routemap designed to help the reader think through what decisions need to be taken, what options are available, and what the reader needs to consider to make sure they come up with something that meets particular local objectives and circumstances.
Problem
The routemap is designed to aid local authorities by providing a tool to build their experience of neighbourhood renewal and neighbourhood management.
Description
The routemap has been designed to help the reader take a comprehensive approach to achieve objectives by thinking through neighbourhood structures and appropriate processes, and how these link into the whole picture at the neighbourhood level.
Approach
The routemap is spilt over two levels – the strategic and corporate level, and the neighbourhood level to enable the reader to examine the wider picture and how this fits into local structures.
Improved outcomes are promoted for:
  • health,
  • education,
  • housing and environment,
  • employment and crime.
Results
Options and considerations are provided with guidance on which neighbourhoods to think about, which services and decisions, and funding neighbourhood management.
In particular the routemap focuses on:
  • Improving, joining up and bending mainstream services
  • Reviewing service standards, responsibilities, objectives and purposes
  • Redefining problems in a joint up way.
Beneficiaries
Local authorities, other public sector organisations
