Policies Shaping employment, skills and gender equality in the Hungarian labour market
Introduction
The riport analyses the indicators of the Hungarian labour market, gender policy and anti-discrimination legislation together with employment promotion programmes.
Description
This national report presents how the situation in Hungarian labour market complied with EU legislation in 2004. Comparing the retirement legislation and employment rates between the EU and Hungary the results show that retirement age was lower than the costomary 64 years in Europe and 47% of working-age women are inactive. In the EU 75,6% of the population aged 20-24 is in education while in Hungary only 21,5%. The report studies the institution system of equal opportunities, anti-discrimination legislation and civil organisations also. There is a short description of programmes like National Development Plan or education strategies for life long learning related to employment promotion too.
EU involvement
The national report was written as a part of report of The European Employment Strategy and national employment policies. Addressing the employment and gender challenges of the Knowledge Based Society for the EU project ‘From welfare to knowfare’. The project received funding in the period 2003-2005.
